Welcome!

Veterans Day 2020:

Please join us in honoring our hometown heroes tomorrow at 11 a.m. in Folger Park at the corner of 3rd and D Streets SE. American Legion Post 8 Commander Jason Secrest invites everyone to its annual Veterans Day ceremony to remember all those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

The hour-long program includes gathering music by the DCFD Emerald Society Pipes & Drums, presentation of colors by U.S. Air Force Color Guard, and national anthem and armed forces medley by the U.S. Army Brass Quintet.

D.C. Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen will offer remarks and award-winning NBC News4 I-Team investigative reporter Scott MacFarlane is the quest speaker.

Due to citywide requirements and restrictions, standing room only will be available on the perimeter of the event. All are respectfully asked to follow current masking and social distancing directions.

If you aren't able to attend in person, please look for the observance to be live streamed at: https://www.facebook.com/KennethHNashAmericanLegion/

We warmly invite the citizens of our community to join Post 8. Whether you're a veteran or a family member of a veteran, please join us.

The American Legion supports US military servicemembers, veterans and their families. We also help the community by providing opportunities to local youth (training, mentorship, scholarships, etc.). We serve as a convivial meeting place for veterans & family members of veterans who seek support, charitable service opportunities, & fun social activities.

Simply by joining our post, you will help veterans & their families.

Post 8 offers many fun, exciting events & activities each month, including DJ dance parties, bingo, karaoke, & more!

Our post is one of 14,000+ posts which comprise the largest wartime veterans organization in the US. Being a 501(c)(19) veterans' charity, we give back to vets and to our community.

Together, we can - and do - make a difference.

VETERANS MEMORIAL

Your American Legion Post 12 has been negativly affected by the pandemic like the other businesses and public venues in our area. As a result, our main source of raising operating revenue (Thursday Night Bingo) has also had to close. Until we can get back to raising revenue on a regular basis, any donations, new members joining and participating when we resume on site events is much appreciated.
